🎥 The Accountant (2016)

💵 What happens when a mathematic savant is also a trained assassin? I would tell you what happens but why when you could just watch The Accountant for yourself?

The original screenplay for The Accountant was written by Bill Dubuque (The Judge, Ozark). He was inspired by the idea of creating a protagonist with autism who operated in a traditionally "alpha" action role—something unexplored in mainstream cinema.

Gavin O’Connor was eventually brought on to direct. Known for emotionally resonant dramas like Warrior (2011), O’Connor was the perfect fit to ground the film's violence in real-world emotion.

Ben Affleck joined the project after Gone Girl and his work behind the camera with Argo. he trained extensively in martial arts and weapons handling to bring the role a real-world feel.

Known typically for her comedy and musical roles, Anna Kendrick rounded out the main cast with her first major action thriller. Though far from what she’s known for, Kendrick’s presence gave the movie a much-needed female touch.

Pretty cool huh? Now, here’s some film resources for you as you rewatch…

▶️ Rewatch-worthy Scene from The Accountant

Though this action-packed thriller has plenty of epic fight scenes, there is one scene that rises to the top of our most rewatch-worthy scenes list.

Make sure you find a CPA who can do work like this…

“Solve the Puzzle”

Ben Affleck and director Gavin O’Connor consulted with financial consultants to make sure this scene felt as real as possible. There is a featurette of this scene with interviews from the cast and crew.

There are similar scenes like this in other movies such as Good Will Hunting, The Big Short, and Moneyball.

💬 Some Trivia from The Accountant

The Accountant features multiple prominent “payments” that the main character, Christian Wolff, has acquired over his many years of service.

None more prominent than paintings from famous artists. All of which he stores in his Airstream. Quite comfy…

Which painting does Mr. Wolff gift to Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick)?

No shame to Airstreams, but don’t you think he should’ve found a better place to house all these priceless paintings?
