šŸŽ¬ Rewatching Films for the Spring, Vol. 2

"He's a friend from work"

🌼 Happy Saturday!

The spring skies have been dumping water down, and since Flick can’t go outside or else his batteries will get fried, he’s had plenty of time to curate his second ā€˜Spring Films’ list.

You might be asking ā€œwhat makes a film a spring film?ā€ Good question, who in the world knows. Flick doesn’t tell us…

So, whether you’re displeased or ecstatic about that answer, find a cozy spot and rewatch these films (Flick’s favorite is in green)

šŸŽ„ Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

āš”ļø What happens when the God of Thunder loses his hammer, gets tossed across the galaxy, and is forced into gladiator combat against his old buddy, the Hulk? I could explain—but honestly, just go watch Thor: Ragnarok.

This story was reimagined by screenwriter Eric Pearson with contributions from Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost. Departing from the darker tones of earlier Thor films (especially Thor: Dark World šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼) this installment leaned into vibrant cosmic chaos and unexpected comedy—recentering Marvel in all the right ways.

Director Taika Waititi, known for What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, brought his signature blend of irreverent humor into the MCU. His offbeat style turned Ragnarok into more than just another superhero sequel—it became a buddy comedy + a Norse apocalypse rolled into one.

Chris Hemsworth, eager to reinvent Thor, embraced the comedic freedom beautifully. With the additions of Cate Blanchett as the vengeful Hela and Tessa Thompson as the fierce Valkyrie, the cast found a perfect mix of charisma, grit, and humor to push the MCU into a much weirder, bolder territory.

Pretty cool huh? Now, here’s some film resources for you as you rewatch…

šŸæ What to Eat (and Drink) while watching Thor: Ragnarok

Typically on Rewatching, we give you customized drink and food options, BUT to be completely honest: they can be a bit much to make and no one can drink that much alcohol.

So, for a film like this, we’re gonna keep things simple…

Hot Tamales → Mike and Ike’s + Fresca = šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Just like this film, start fire-y with some Hot Tamales, switch to Mike and Ike’s (original) when Thor meets his old work buddy Hulk and finish the back half of the movie sipping on a Fresca (it wouldn’t hurt to heat up a bag of popcorn either?).

Enjoy reasonably.

ā–¶ļø Rewatch-worthy Scene from Thor: Ragnarok

This action-comedy has so many iconic actors that just completely hold your attention, but this scene, to us, is at the top.

We’re pretty sure Jeff Goldblum is just playing himself in this film…

ā€œThor Meets Grandmasterā€

Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi leaned fully into improvisation to bring this scene to life. Jeff Goldblum’s unique energy shaped much of the moment’s bizarre charm—his delivery, quirks, and timing were mostly unscripted.

In behind-the-scenes featurettes, the cast and crew recall how much of the scene’s comedy came from on-the-spot choices.

This type of offbeat, awkward introduction has echoes in other films where powerful figures play with their captives or guests—think The Hunger Games’ Capitol scenes, Guardians of the Galaxy’s meeting with the Collector, or even Willy Wonka welcoming guests to his factory.

šŸ’¬ Your Vote for Thor: Ragnarok

The MCU took a major tonal shift starting with Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 1 from heavier, action dramas into more ā€˜space opera comdies.’

Though this tone definitely got overplayed with films like Thor: Love & Thunder and Ant Man: Quantum Mania, at the time it was other-worldy…

Which of these MCU 'Space Movies' is the best?
